Summer School of Evangelisation Melbourne 2026 Registration

READ BEFORE YOU REGISTER

Melbourne Summer School of Evangelisation is a week-long live-in Catholic retreat for young people aged 17-35. It will be held at the Holy Cross Monastery (Templestowe, VIC). The school commences on Sunday 4th January 2026 at 3:00pm for 'check in' with an opening Mass at 5pm and concludes on Sunday 11th January 2026 with a closing Mass finishing at approximately 12:00pm. Lunch will not be provided on the final day.
The accommodation at Summer School is a basic dormitory-style, single-sex cabins shared between 2-3 persons with shared amenities. Married couples will be allocated their own room. You will need to provide your own bed linen.
If you are under 18 years of age or if this is your first summer school, you will need to complete an additional application form and submit a reference from your parish priest or parish/community leader in addition to your online registration. We will email you the relevant information.
If you are in need of any financial assistance in order to attend SSE, we’d encourage you to get in contact with your local parish, undertake fundraising or seek sponsorship from those who are supporting you on your faith journey. PAYMENT POLICY: Payment details will be issued once your registration is approved. ALL payments must be made within 7 days of your registration approval notification (or by midnight of 19th December at the latest). Your registration is not confirmed until payment has been received.

REFUND POLICY: If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, please notify us immediately via email at admin@ssemelbourne.org.au Please note that a non-refundable fee of $100 is incurred for all cancellations after 1st December 2025 due to venue commitments beyond our control. No refunds will be provided after 19th December 2025 as our booking and catering will have to be finalised.

Payment & Refunds

Registration fees include ALL meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning tea, afternooon tea and supper), accommodation and materials. Additional books and snacks can be purchased on-site. We do not have a daily rate as we encourage all participants to stay for the entire duration where possible. If you are still in need of a further subsidy, please get in touch with us.

Our Concessional prices are as follows (until 31-Oct-2025):

Early Bird Concessional registration fee is $569 per person
Standard Concessional registration fee is $669 per person

The concessional fee is available for full-time students and persons under 18.

Our Adult prices are as follows (until 28-Dec-2025):

Early Bird registration fee is $609 per person
Standard registration fee is $709 per person

Our early bird rates are available for the first 40 registrations (concession or adult) up until Friday 31st October 2025.

Registrations will close on 19th December 2025. Any registrations after this date will be at the sole discretion of the school administration.

DOJ Summer School of Evangelisation Code of Conduct

Discples of Jesus (DOJ) Summer School of Evangelisation is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in our care. SSE adheres to statutory laws in Australia and has policies in place to endeavour to protect the rights of all children and young people. This Code of Conduct is part of the measures for promoting a safe environment for all participants and applies to attendees of all ages.

As a participant at the Melbourne Summer School of Evangelisation, I understand and agree to the following. To ensure a positive experience for all involved, I will:

Follow the rules and regulations set in place by the organisers of the Summer School and venue staff.

Manage my own transport arrangements to and from the School.

Take responsibility for all my personal belongings for the duration of the School.

Pay the registration cost prior to the event to secure accommodation and meals, unless previously arranged.

Respect and uphold the Catholic ethos of the School and conduct myself in a Christian manner through my language, dress and behaviour.

Refrain from rude or offensive language, forming inappropriate or exclusive relationships and any behaviour that is hurtful, bullying or abusive.

Fully participate in the School activities, including attending lectures, plenaries, workshops, liturgies, common prayer, small group and large group sessions.

If for a valid reason I am unable to participate in any Summer School activity, I will communicate this to my small group leader.

Respect communal and private prayer times of participants of the School.

Ensure the School remains clean and tidy by following instructions of staff at the Holy Cross Monastery and by participating in ‘Service Jobs’ allocated to me during the School (these jobs include cleaning up after meals and general cleaning of the grounds).

Not leave the School grounds during allocated session times, and avoid leaving the school unnecessarily to maintain a spirit of retreat for myself and others.

I will only leave the school when agreed with the administrator (Br Shehan Rodrigo MGL).

Respect the School curfew and security measures by not leaving the School grounds in the evening times and assist us by complying with directives from the Night Patrol or leadership team.

Observe that male and female dormitories are to remain separate.

At no time should there be someone of the opposite gender in a designated dorm area except for married couples or approved leaders under emergency conditions.

Remain within my allocated dormitory after lights out. (There is always a long day ahead each morning.),

Refrain from bringing, using, possessing or being under the influence of alcohol or other drugs at all times during the School and while present at the venue. (Please note, there is a Zero Tolerance Alcohol and Drug Policy for Summer School and the venue. Failure to abide by this will result in being asked to leave the School).

Tell my appointed Sharing Group Leader, a member of the Pastoral Team, or the Administrator of Summer School (Br Shehan Rodrigo MGL) about anything that makes me feel worried, afraid, or unsafe.

Not invite any non-registered participant or guest on-site for the duration of Summer School, without prior clearance from the Summer School Administrator (Br Shehan Rodrigo MGL).

Comply with COVID-19, bushfire and other safety requirements outlined by the Administrator and his team for the duration of Summer School.

Acknowledge that I may be photographed and/or videoed during the event and that the organisers may use this material for purposes related to Summer School, including promotion and our website. (Note: if you do not consent to your photograph being used, please notify the administrator after form submission at admin@ssemelbourne.og.au)

For the additional protection of under 18 attendees:

Participants aged 18 and over who smoke are asked to do so only in the approved smoking area. They must never smoke in the presence of minors nor offer cigarettes or vaping devices to minors. Where possible, we encourage you to support us in keeping the campus smoke free if possible.

Refrain from private communication or via social media with any participant aged under 18 for the duration of Summer School and beyond (until they are above 18).

Refrain from driving or accompanying a minor (under 18) at or away from the campsite premises at any time without the express consent of their parents.

Not enter any dormitory allocated to participants aged under 18.

I understand that breaching this Code of Conduct will be treated seriously and may lead to my expulsion from this and future Summer Schools. I understand that breaching this Code of Conduct can diminish the care and supervision available for other attendees.
